The Best Strains to Look For in 2022

Ten cannabis strains we're excited to smoke in 2022. Written by Lucas Indrikovs.

With 2021 officially in our rearview, let's take a look at the ten strains we’re most excited about this year. Some are brand new, others have yet to even hit the market but no matter what the current availability is, we’re eagerly awaiting to personally sample all these exciting new cultivars... for science.

Strawberry Cookies

This potent Indica-Dominant strain, with hints of cherry-berry and earthy nuttiness, is sure to be a hit in 2022. Thanks to its lineage of Animal Cookies x Strawberry Fields, you get the best of both worlds from the classic Cookies genetics and the legendary Tangie strains. Grape-shaped nugs covered in frosty trichomes are always a welcomed sight to see, but be warned, this strain is reported to increase arousal and intimacy. Ooh-la-la.

Connected - Hitchhiker Indoor

Thanks to Connected’s latest cultivar, Hitchhiker, gone are the days when picking up some hitchhiker meant you might end up in your very own horror movie. Bred with their proprietary genetics, these flowers are a deep, rich purple color and packed with trichomes. Hitchhiker offers sweet vanilla and earthy flavors despite also smelling like skunky swamp water and used motor oil. It's a pleasant, yet confusing delight for the senses. The only fear you’ll experience from this Hitchhiker is the fear of running out!

Glueberry

A 50/50 Hybrid (which is rare these days), Glueberry is the love child of three highly celebrated strains (Gorilla Glue X OG Kush X Blueberry). With an intense diesel aroma and blueberry flavor, Glueberry will hit you with a euphoric rush, then settle you into a pleasant hazy state of mind but won’t lock you into a state of mental hibernation. This strain is simultaneously energizing and relaxing, so break up a frosty nug, ingest it however you see fit, and get creative!

Cure Company - Biscotti Fritz

Striving to develop new cultivars that are high in potency without sacrificing flavor, Cure Company knocked it out of the park with Biscotti Fritz (Biscotti x Fritz). Furry, dark green nugs covered in gassy trichomes with flavors and aromas of thin mint cookies drenched in gasoline, this strain is perfect for those seeking a calm and creative heady high. Artists, musicians and creatives of all kinds should keep an eye out for this one.

Apples and Bananas

Apples and Bananas will undoubtedly capture the attention of cannabis enthusiasts across the country with its fuzzy dark green nugs and unique flavor profile that actually tastes like apples and bananas. The breeders of this strain painstakingly worked on the development of the Apples and Bananas cultivar and the final product is a testament to their hard work. With an average THC level of 23%-30%, expect a heady and uplifting experience on the front end that will settle into a relaxing euphoria over time.

Clout King - Lemon Cherry Terdz

Clout King has been in the game since 2006 and they haven’t slowed down a bit with their latest strain, Lemon Cherry Terdz (Lemon Cherry x Terdz). If the bright yellow-pink packaging doesn’t immediately catch your attention, the aromas of diesel and limoncello will surely stop you in your tracks. Great for seshing with friends on the couch or before a nice day surrounded by nature, Lemon Cherry Terdz’ purple nugs and rich orange hairs will calm your brain and energize your body.

Peanut Butter Breath

It has been theorized that the cannabis plant, through its endless diversity of terpenes, offers all the flavors of nature in its chemical makeup. Peanut Butter Breath proves that theory in spades. Yet another 50/50 Hybrid, Peanut Butter Breath was developed by ThugPug genetics crossing two classic Indica strains Do-Si-Dos x Mendo Breath.

Its uplifting and euphoric effects, paired with its unique flavor profile of herbal woodiness and peanuts, will leave you in a sense of wonder. Peanut Butter Breath is another shining example of cannabis’s endless treasure trove of flavors and aromas.

Blueprint - The One

Considered “the most exciting cannabis launch of Summer 2021” (2), Blueprint has made their presence known in the cannabis scene in no time with strains like The One. Absolutely saturated in trichomes from nug to stem with aromas of musky, spicy citrus and testing at 36% cannabinoids, The One will leave you stoned to the bone and asking for more. That is, if you don’t fall asleep watching reruns of “The Office” with your hand in a bag of chips.

Blueprint - The One

Orangeade

When you cross legendary strains like Tangie and Purple Punch, it’s only natural to expect greatness, and Orangeade does not disappoint. Citrusy, floral, and dominated by limonene terps, Orangeade will lift your spirits and elevate your mind for hours. While its THC content may be considered mid-range for the market (high teens), it’s a perfect daytime smoke that will boost your mood without triggering the anxiety and paranoia typically associated with Sativa-Dominant strains.

Dime Bag - Blackberry Kush

These days, finding a pure Indica cultivar is harder than finding a polar bear in a snowstorm, but that’s exactly what you’ll get from Dime Bag’s Blackberry Kush. A cross of Afghani x Blackberry, this strain represents the best characteristics of its parental lineage with gassy, kushy aromas and fruity berry flavors. The nugs are dark purple with vivid red hairs and the trichomes look like fresh powdery snow. A little Blackberry Kush goes a long way but if you’re looking to zonk out on the couch, feel free to indulge. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you!
