The Process
Real Deal’s solventless hash rosin dabs are not made in the typical solvent extraction process like cured or live resin concentrates because no color remediation is involved during their extraction process. They have no interest in making CO2 or butane hash oil. Real Deal Resin’s solventless extraction process requires zero volatile chemicals or hydrocarbon solvents when sourcing pure cannabis extract.
Solventless hash rosin, also known as bubble hash (full melt), is considered the highest quality of bubble hash. The ultra-refined full melt tends to largely bubble away when smoked or dabbed, leaving little material behind.

Rooted in the East
Real Deal Resin founders Sam and Dustan are originally from Western Pennsylvania. In their last year of college, Dustan and Sam were working on gray area cultivations, risking prosecution in a state that wasn’t friendly to their life long passion. They both were very hands on with every step of the process including growing, harvesting, trimming and processing cannabis for concentrates.
In 2016 Dustan withdrew his life savings, packed up his life in Pennsylvania and headed west across the United States to California. Sam followed in 2016. They rented their first farm, a house with a modest grow in Mendocino, CA. It was at this humble farm that they began to perfect their methods for cultivation and live resin extraction.
Fruited in the West
Before solventless rosin was at the core of the average connoisseur’s concentrates game, Dustan and his colleagues were focused on where the market was headed. They began cultivating cannabis specifically for live resin extraction. They were making butane extraction methods to create the concentrates the patients and consumers were raging about at that time - THC diamonds, covered in terp sauce.
When Prop 64 opened the recreational market in California, Dustan’s first few concentrate collaborations were with the hash masters Feeling Frosty and West Coast Alchemy. Dustan’s initial product releases sold out quickly like coveted Nike shoe drops.
It was only a matter of time before Dustan realized he needed to create a brand that represented the true culture within the cannabis industry. He wanted to start a brand that elevates the quality of products available and offer them at an affordable price.
Dustan explains the inspiration behind Real Deal Resin:
“If squishing your hash is cool, consider us Miles Davis,” explains Dustan. “I wanted to create not only a hash brand. I wanted to create an experience. An experience that reaches back to a simpler time through nostalgia."
"We always want to be fun and be playful. Remember a simpler time before Corona back when we were free to be playful in our lives and imagination? No real life worries.”
Behind the Brand
Each week Real Deal Resin had a new logo. The hype behind the quality of their concentrates, coupled with the throwback packaging kept their small batch releases flying off the shelves. The creative artwork came from the imagination of another of Sam and Dustan’s college friends, Jacob Dunn of Done Supply, who is still their lead artist.
“The brand imagery all started with one wrestling meme. We took the facial makeup of a popular wrestler and made it our own. As we continued releasing our products packaged in limited release branded packaging, people started to collect our unique packaging like collectable Pokemon.”
Does adjusting the likeness of these entertainment staples keep them free from cease and desists? Definitely not. They built up a social media following of ten thousand followers and were deleted, rebuilt their following back to twenty thousand, and were banned again.
They still haven’t deviated from their approach to raising awareness of their brand. Real Deal Resin’s collectable boxes covered with famous characters and blended motifs continue today. This act of defiance makes Real Deal Resin stand out even more. They wear each cease and desist they receive as a red badge of courage.
Real Deal Resin Enters The Ring
With a team of four, Dustan continued to release their products in the traditional market. As they began to establish notoriety and respect for the quality of what they were bringing to the shelves, it was only a matter of time before the right tag team partner in the legal industry entered the ring.
Dustan crossed paths with Micah Anderson from Leef Holdings. Leef recognized the Real Deal Resin crew’s approach to their craft of making next-level concentrates.
“He saw everything we were doing, the whole picture,” explained Dustan. “We had the traditional market hyped on our products.”
These rebels of the industry found the perfect tag team partner with Leef. Real Deal Resin hit the legal market on Cinco de Mayo of 2021 in collaboration with the master cultivators at Gaya Farms. March and Ash was one of the first stores to start selling the brand. Real Deal Resin was finally able to get their rosin to new people who were not only affiliated with the underground hash scene.
Blumosa Live Hash Rosin
A very happy accident led to the discovery of Blumosa (Blue Cookies x Mimosa). It was pheno hunted by SOG Army with little expectations, and in return yielded one of the hardiest resin producing strains in their entire genetic stable. Upon cracking the jar you’re immediately introduced to an orange zested rim of a blue Powerade with the subsequent taste profile to match, curtailing into a sweet Hi-C aftertaste on the exhale.

Having built their reputation on hash rosin, Real Deal Resin continued to expand their products in their second year of selling in the legal market.
