8 Strains That Deserve a Blue Check Mark
From your classic genetics to the newest hyped hybrids, here are eight cannabis cultivars that we think Elon Musk should grant a Twitter Blue verified check. - Written by Randy Villarba
Famously known for being the CEO of the electric vehicle company Tesla, Elon Musk made a public statement about his stance on cannabis when he smoked a joint on the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast back in 2018. Love him or hate him, in that episode he showed he was one of us. Now Musk, the founder of the United States based Neuralink and The Boring Company, and CEO of SpaceX, has acquired the social media company Twitter.
After purchasing Twitter at the price of $44 billion, it didn’t take much time for him to create a real time frenzy with his fingertips.
Musk recently introduced a paid subscription for Twitter, also known as Twitter Blue. Twitter Blue is the verified check mark that typically appears next to the handle of celebrities, corporations, influencers and public figures. However, anyone with $8 a month to spare, can now easily add the check mark to their account.
The blue checkmark for the social media platform has long been a marker for clout, reach and cultural relevance. So that got us thinking, if cannabis strains had their own Twitter handles, which cultivars would qualify for a blue checkmark next to their name?
From your classic genetics to the newest hyped hybrids, here are eight cultivars that we think the billionaire from South Africa should grant a Twitter Blue verified check.
1. OG Kush
OG Kush is a classic cultivar that was originally bred in Florida in the 1990’s. This strain crosses the classic Chemdawg with Hindu Kush.
The onset of OG Kush is purported to be euphoric initially with a possible transition into a calming and relaxing state. OG Kush's profile is skunk-like and pungent with an earthy finish. Its dominant terpenes are caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene.
2. Durban Poison
Durban Poison was made by a South African Landrace and popularized by America's first phenohunter, Ed Rosenthal, who is credited with discovering Durban Poison's phenotypes. Durban Poison is purported to be an uplifting and awakening cultivar. Its aroma is piney and skunky with a spicy sweetness to its taste. Terpene profile consists of terpinolene, ocimene, and myrcene.
Forty One also known as Gelato #41 is a cross between Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint GSC. This cultivar is sweet and features a fruity and creamy flavor profile with hints of berry undertones.
