Budtender's Pick: Lagunitas HiFi Hops
Hi-Fi Hops is an award-winning cannabis infused beverage powered by the folks at Lagunitas and AbsoluteXtracts.
Lagunitas HiFi Hops
Hi-Fi Hops is a hoppy sparkling water infused with cannabis. It’s a non-alcoholic, zero-calorie, zero-carb, zero-gluten zinger that’s dry-hopped like a beer with some of Lagunitas' favorite varieties from the Yakima Valley, WA. Then it’s infused with some of the finest locally sun-grown cannabis from AbsoluteXtracts for a special punch of THC and CBD. As a liquid the effects settle in much faster than traditional edibles (5-15 minutes) and last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.

Lagunitas HiFi Hops comes in three doses made up of different CBD to THC ratios. One with an 18:1 ratio made up of 18 mg of CBD and less than 2 mg of THC. Another one a 5:5 ratio made up of 5 mg of CBD and 5 mg of THC. Lastly, one with 0 mg of CBD and 10 mg of THC.
“It’s a hoppy sparkling water that drinks like a beer,” says Lagunitas Brew Master Jeremy Marshall. "You get all of the fruity and tropical notes from the hops, but without all the other things that can weigh you down."
A Match Made in Cannabis Heaven
Lagunitas and AbsoluteXtracts
Lagunitas Brewing Company’s passion for beer and cannabis goes back to Tony Magee, the founder Lagunitas in 1993, who always said “It takes a lot of good weed to make great beer.” From the start time of their first brewery parties (4:20pm), Lagunitas has always found ways to bridge the gap between its two loves: beer and cannabis.
In 2017, they found a way to literally bridge that gap with their friends, AbsoluteXtracts. Their first project, SuperCritical, resulted in two tasty innovations: a vape with hop terpenes and a beer brewed with cannabis terpenes. Now, Lagunitas and AbsoluteXtracts are dialing things up further, with HiFi Hops: a hoppy sparkling beverage with zero-calories and zero-carbs, infused with the finest THC & CBD from locally-grown cannabis.
The Hoppy Method
The AbsoluteXtracts weedmasters use pressurized carbon dioxide to extract terpenes and aromatic compounds and oils are found in the cannabis plants, some of which are THC, CBD, or both. Then the brewmasters create their sparkling magic, mixing the extracts with hops-sparkling water to create HI-FI Hops

What Are Terpenes?
Terpenes are aromatic oils that are responsible for giving cannabis that skunky smell or sweet, fruity taste. However, cannabis isn’t the only plant that contains terpenes. In fact, they are naturally found in many plants and flowers including mangoes, lemongrass, pine needles, cinnamon, basil, rosemary, and peppermint to name a few. It is believed that terpenes developed in these plants as a way to attract pollinators. More than 100 different types of terpenes have been identified in the cannabis plant.
What is the Entourage Effect?
The entourage effect is a proposed mechanism by which molecules that occur together in nature produce better effects when taken together, rather than taken alone. This is where cannabinoids and terpenes found in cannabis come into play. Even though CBD, THC or terpenes can work alone for some effects, certain patient-based studies have revealed that they often create better results ingested together.
