FloraCal takes pride in their process of rigorous pheno-hunting and small-batch cultivation practices that yield only the best results. Born on the West Coast in Sonoma County, California, FloraCal Farms was one of the first cannabis brands in the United States that came from the traditional and medical marijuana markets in northern California. Every cannabis plant is meticulously cared for and hand-trimmed at harvest in order to provide a deeper cannabis experience.

FloraCal was co-founded by husband and wife Drew and Karen Duval in 2014. Over the years, FloraCal has won many cannabis cup awards, including a few from California’s influential Emerald Cup.

“We’re on a mission to normalize, professionalize, and revolutionize cannabis,” says Drew Duval.

Setting up shop in the hills of Sonoma County, the Duvals dedicated all of their time and effort to the craft of cannabis. They learned about every stage of the process, from seed selection to the importance of a careful harvest. Through their own cannabis research they created a brand that still maintains that same commitment to excellence. FloraCal Farms established a rigorous cultivation process centered around tailored craftsmanship that today is both respected and followed by other cultivators throughout California and beyond.

Utilizing Generational Cultivation Practices

At FloraCal, “seed to shelf” is more than just a saying. It is their modus operandi. Their rigorous cultivation process begins even before the cannabis plants reach the soil. They select their cultivars based on a strict set of criteria with a priority on unique attributes and distinct sensations, above all else, as their expert cultivators carefully source them.

The philosophy of FloraCal is rooted in the belief that nature is the ultimate authority. As a result, their process is significantly influenced by the world around us. FloraCal prides themselves on practicing the generational top-tier techniques passed down from legacy framers in Northern California. These practices have long been established since growing the original and exotic weed strains during the days of the medical and traditional markets.

Utilizing Generational Cultivation Practices

Cannabis seeds are timed to be planted with the full moon in mind in order to give each female plant the most natural start to maturity possible. The cultivators replicate the seasons by establishing surroundings that imitate both the Summer Solstice and Autumnal Equinox. These practices have long been used by generations of growers in the hills of Northern California. From the smooth and frosty snow capped mountains to the earthy, herbal woodlands—FloraCal captured the best that Earth has to offer.

Attention to detail is key, which is why FloraCal grows in small batches. This allows the cultivators to cater to the differing needs of the various cannabis varieties. Cultivators ensure the canopy of leaves remains even, employ precision fertilizer mixing systems, and customize irrigation volume based on the needs of each specific strain. Meticulous observation, informed caretakers, and decades of experience all combine to create an unparalleled product. Come harvest time, FlorCal continues to prioritize strain expression and form by trimming the flower by hand only.

A Return to the Legacy Cultivars

FloraCal’s cultivation process entails a rigorous pheno-hunting process that starts with hundreds of plants. They study each genetic variation of the cultivar to find the right expressive phenotype. All of FloraCal's flower is hand harvested, hand trimmed, and packaged to preserve delicate flower characteristics. The cultivation team then hand-selects only the winning strains to be developed into their packaged flower, pre-rolls, vapes, and hand-crafted concentrates found in FloraCal Farms’ portfolio of products.

“We’re excited about FloraCal Farms’ new flower menu,” explains Drew Duval.

“In an ever-changing market, Floracal Farms wanted to differentiate itself by bringing back legacy strains and cutting-edge exotic genetics born out of multiple pheno-hunts in the last 12-18 months.”
